On Bohdi Sanders Wisdom series -- This series is a must for the bookshelves of any warrior, whether the be warriors of the battlefield, the mat, or the corporate room. Read one page every morning and think on the message through out the day. you will find an attitude shift.
- james andrews

Having already reviewed Bodhi Sanders first Volume of “Warrior Wisdom,” I was most pleasantly surprised at the quality of his 2nd volume in this series. Truthfully, I felt -- for reasons as yet not entirely clear – that this 2nd volume was actually better than the first. Perhaps it was that reading through its quotes I felt Sensei Sanders was being less didactic and more reflective, or perhaps the quotes in this volume were simply less familiar to me, but in any case, I found it an improvement over even his first volume (which was quite good, although I did not rate it quite as high as this volume). The quotes are to be savored -- much like fine chocolate, which is best eaten a little at a time and slowly, allowing the aroma to penetrate one’s olfactory tract and stimulate parts deep in the brain -- forming potent yet hidden neurological connections that can alter one’s experiences, conclusions, and (hopefully) behavior. Well done Sensei. Consider this a most respectful verbal bow.

WARRIOR WISDOM VOL 01: A WORTHY ADDITION TO A "WISDOM LIBRARY!" The content of Mr. Sander's book has already been described most accurately by other reviewers, the maxims or sayings are first rate, although I would have enjoyed some more background info on the maxims themselves (eg historical precedents, biographical details). A question might arise however - if one already has some experience in the Arts - or other books on quotations - would this make a good purchase? I believe it would, particularly if one is seeking to share some (martial) wisdom with a young loved one or a beginning student. This is where Mr. Sanders shines. His style is simple and direct, yet still contains enough imagery and anecdotes to communicate despite a possible age gap; as a seasoned instructor might address a younger student when seeking to assist them in the formation of judgement, criterion or how they should THINK. His opening lines on the facets of Bushido not being solely for the benefit of the practitioner (but for the rest of society, through the practitioner) are a fine example of this. It is as though Bodhi compiled his most heartfelt lessons from his years of instruction and put them on paper for you...

Warrior Wisdom Volume Two I throughly enjoyed this book. I am actually posting my review after a second reading of this book. I have Volume One of this series and although it is an enjoyable read, Volume Two is a far superior book. The author draws on a cast array of sources, ranging from Sitting Bull to Funakoshi Sensei to Yoda. His choice of quotes is remarkable and his commentary is extremely thought provoking. The other major strong point of this book is his continued emphasis on training the mind & training the body in a functional manner. I did not notice this same emphasis in Volume One and I hope it is a direction the author continues in with any following volumes. In conclusion the author uses all the various quotes to urge the reader to seek a, "lifestyle of excellence, not complacency."
- Ryan

I just did want to tell you "in person" that I thoroughly enjoyed both the Back Kick and Wheel Kick books you sent me. Although some of it was review for me, I did retain several vital points from the books to help me with my training, especially the back kick, which is NOT one of my best techniques. The material was presented in such a manner that it was easily absorbed and motivated me to actively participate along with the book. Nakayama's "Dynamic Karate" is one of my most dog-earred karate books and yours remind me of it!! Well Done! I am looking forward to reading each one of the series as they come out!

Volume 6 Front Kick by Shawn Kovacich is a very well written book from beginning to end. The diagrams make it easy to follow and understand from beginners all the way to seasoned martial artists. This book breaks down each step into several technical points so that you can easily understand the kick fully and perform it correctly. Each technical point is clearly illustrated by pictures and illustrated foot positions so it's easy to understand by seeing the break down of each technical point of the kick. In closing I would like to say, "Well done Shawn this is one of the best martial art book I have ever read."
- Becky

An amazing series of books! Well written, organzied and so full of information on kicking that the only better resource would be the author himself. I would highly recommend any book written by this author!
- Billy

When I first picked up Shawn's book, I thought that this was going to be a typical book on the martial arts. Boy was I wrong! This book (Back Kick) is the most detailed book I have ever read, seen, or even heard about concerning kicking. I can't wait for the others I ordered to arrive!
- Mike

I am reading your books for about an hour each night before I go to sleep. I'm learning a lot in them and I have been in martial arts for years. But our study, we don't do a lot of kicks because we are taught that it makes a person unbalanced and just one sweep can bring you down when you are in the middle of a kick. And since my Grand Master has taught me this, I have believed this and taught it to my students also. So I am seeing a lot of positive things about kicks that I haven't never been made aware of. I actually got outside today and did a few. I do the roundhouse and the basics but I tried a few of the others in the back of one of the books and I liked it.
- Tammy

I am in utter disbelief on how much detail is in these books. I never would have thought that a person could fill over 200 pages with relevant information on a single kick. These are the best books I have ever seen on kicking!
- Lawrence

What a truly fantastic series of books. My kicking skills have been growing by leaps and bounds ever since I purchsed your books. Thanks!
