| Reverse Crescent Kick |
Posted by: John Sliger |

| Achieving Kicking Excellence, Reverse Crescent Kick is an outstanding textbook in how to perform a reverse crescent kick. Although all martial arts should be taught under the guidance of a qualified instructor, the whole series, Achieving Kicking Excellence will provide great insight for the beginner in the art of kicking and some good pointers for those of us that have been at this for a while. The readers will find that some of the information is similar to what is found in other books in the series. Although some may feel this is detraction to the book, this allows the reader to gain this valuable information without having to purchase the whole series. |

| Warrior Wisdom: Volume Two |

| Volume two continues the journey of what a real martial artist should strive to become. Dr. Sanders continues with additional guidance of what should be within the heart of a warrior. This volume, as did Volume one, sets forth wonderful quotes that Dr. Sanders intertwines with everyday life. After having read the first volume multiple times, I have begun to think about the specific quotes and how they relate to the present. It has become easier to recall the tenants of a real warrior by being able to recall a specific quote. I have begun using the quotes as I once used acronyms to help study for college exams…only the quotes that Dr. Sanders has compiled, actually have a practical use in daily life.
There are quite a few quotes within this volume that seem to relate to God, or whatever higher power in which a person believes. I find these passages particular helpful. It is often difficult to cross the paths of what a person deems a warrior with what a person deems a spiritual person. Dr. Sanders seems to mix present day spirituality with that of the ancients.
Finally, I have found an abundance of moral, ethical, and truly thought provoking concepts to share with my son as he continues to grow. I hope to continue to invoke in him, what I have learned over the years…and continue to learn as I read every fantastic book such of this one of Dr. Sanders. I would recommend this to anyone wishing to seriously think about their inner-being. |

| Crescent Kick |

| I have been practicing martial arts for 15 years and have never thought so much about one specific kick. It is amazing to think in hindsight that I have never dissected the very specific body parts used in building the crescent kick. I think that once one understands the anatomy used for the kick, it becomes easier to improve on the kick. I believe that I now can develop a specific workout strategy, specifically developing the muscles needed to build a strong crescent kick.
The book is the most detailed I have ever seen in breaking down not only the actual “anatomy” in our bodies that is used, but the anatomy of the crescent kick itself. The book is more detailed than I could have ever imagined. It is unbelievable in teaching one how to develop a devastating crescent kick. I am amazed at how much I have learned with this reading and cannot wait to begin with the reverse crescent kick.
I found the pictures and the footprints to be a great help in assisting with the developing of a textbook crescent. The different forms of the crescent kick are broken down in fantastic detail and followed up with step by step photographs to help ensure proper training. I found the question and answer sections very helpful as well in dealing with practical applications of the kick. I think it would be impossible for one to really read this book, follow the guidance, and not to dramatically improve their kicks in some way. |

| After having concluded Mr. Kovacich’s book on the crescent kick I moved on to volume 5 ---- Reverse Crescent Kick. I thought that I knew the correct technique to effectuate a better than adequate reverse crescent kick; however, after reading this book, I can see why Mr. Kovacich recommends the repetition he does in the book. The practice develops technique as it teaches the muscles involved how to perform the kick properly. Increased muscle memory creates a more effective kick. Not only does the form improve, but the strength and usefulness of the kick improves dramatically.
The book uses wonderful imagery. It is simple but accurate, as well as thought provoking, allowing for full comprehension of what Mr. Kovacich is trying to teach about the reverse crescent kick. As with the prior volume, I really enjoyed the abundance of photographs and detailed foot positions that accompany each kick.
I used to use the reverse crescent kick as a valuable kick within my arsenal; however, I really never used many variations of the kick. The book was fantastic in helping to understand the multiple uses of the kick, as well as techniques to help adequately train your body to perform the kicks.
Finally, I thought the Troubleshooting section of the book provided a great tool to use once you believe you have properly developed good technique. Inevitably, as one develops the kick, there will be weaknesses. Mr. Kovacich does a very nice job at attempting to help the student correct those inevitable weaknesses. I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting such a favorite kick of mine and look forward to reading more in the future. |
